Transponder Key Replacement / Transponder Key Programming
We provide programming and replacement for your transponder keys.
Transponder keys have microchips that transmit a low-level signal from the key to the receiver, usually found in the car. The microchip in the key is usually programmed with a unique serial number that matches up only to the digital serial number in the car using radio frequency identification (RFID).
These keys help to provide a higher level of security, unlike a traditional ignition key. If a car does not detect the key’s microchip or the serial number, then it won’t start. This helps to prevent car break-ins because thieves cannot unlock the door if they don’t have your key with its specific serial number. Getting the key is not enough; it needs to be programmed by a skilled locksmith. If the key must work in your car, then it must be programmed.
Transponder key programming just takes a few minutes to get done. We can do the programming or replacement at the car itself, and if you want to duplicate it, that is not a problem too. Before programming the key, we will cut it first (if it has not been cut). Our technicians have all the appropriate equipment and tools to make the programming smooth.
